Bhubaneswar, Jan. 3: The e-admission process for junior colleges has improved further this year.

The colleges are also being provided with the facility of receiving the admit cards and registration numbers without visiting the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) office.

“Earlier, the colleges had to collect their documents and carry them to their respective colleges for distribution. But from this year onwards, colleges will have to login to their e-space, and use their login ids to get their documents. These documents can be then printed and supplied to the students,” said a senior official.

“In fact, students who lose their registration number will no longer need to apply for it to CHSE office and be afraid of the delay. They can simply approach the college authorities for another copy,” said he.

The CHSE said that the Plus Two exams will be held in the first week of March and filling up of forms for the examinations had commenced from November 28 and ended on December 3.

Last year 1,403 junior colleges took part in e-admissions for 3,50,786 seats.

“We have sought details about the new marking system from the authorities of the school and mass education department. From this year, the authorities have decided to introduce gradation system for matriculation examination. Once we get the details of it, we will upgrade the software, ” the official said.

The state government had in October announced introduction of grades in place of marks in the matriculation examination-2014, in a move intended to reduce stress level and unhealthy competition among students.

Sample question papers have also been uploaded for the students to help them understand the new process. Students will now be evaluated on nine-point grades like A (91-100 marks), B (81-90), C (71-80), D (61-70), E (51-60), F (41-50), G (33-40), H (21-32) and I (below 20).

Students, who secure more than 90 per cent marks, will be categorised ‘Outstanding’, those securing between 81 and 90 per cent ‘Excellent’ and those secured less than 20 per cent will get the tag ‘Unsatisfactory’ instead of ‘Fail’.
