Bhubaneswar: The municipal corporation will enforce a new advertisement regulation to bring into its ambit advertisements pasted haphazardly on walls across the city as well political advertisements.
The corporation has amended the regulations first framed in 2015 for enforcement. The draft of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation Advertisement Display Fee Regulation, 2018, was submitted to the law department for vetting.
"We submitted the draft regulation to the law department. They have made certain corrections in it. We will make the corrections and submit it to the department for publication," said a civic official.
"It will come into effect from the date of publication," he said.
The new regulation will allow the civic body to prepare specific advertisement plans for specific wards and identify private, government sites, and no-advertisement sites.
The civic body will also form a special squad to undertake enforcement activities against haphazardly pasted pamphlets. Persons found violating the regulations will be penalised.
It has also banned advertisements on footpaths, carriageways and sidewalks.
