Sambalpur, June 22: The Sambalpur Development Authority has proposed for a plantation programme along the Ring Road, Laxmi Talkies Chhak and Burla notified area council.
“We have proposed for plantation inside the city and along the Ring Road. We will appoint a panel which will decide on how to go about it,” said authority chairman Bijaya Kumar Mohanty.
“Apart from plantation along the Ring Road and inside the city, the authority has also proposal to develop the park at Commissioner Colony. We will develop the park for the local residents, especially kids and women, so that they get a place for recreation and amusement. Moreover, we have a plan to develop a boating club in Sambalpur. We have decided to contact the Dhankauda block and develop the boating site at Sankarma gram panchayat on the outskirts of the city,” said Mohanty.
“The PHD ground at Ainthapali will get a boundary wall. We will construct the wall as well as a market complex there. Jail Chhak, Modipara Chhak and Zilla High School Chhak, too, will get market complexes. Moreover, we have decided to convert the pond at Jagannath Colony into a park and play ground. The Gourisankar Sahani Park located along the Ring Road will be developed, and the construction work of drains and roads of SDA colonies will be accelerated. Bus terminus will be set up,” he said.
“We have a proposal to build a rest house in Hirakud with a view to increase tourist inflow there. Moreover, we have planned to build a market complex at Kirba and parks in Burla and Hirakud. All the proposals have been passed in the SDA meeting,” said Mohanty.
“Moreover, the master plan for Sambalpur, Burla, Hirakud and some villages of Dhankauda block, Rengali block and Maneswar block under the SDA is in place. Gidco, a Gujarat-based company, was entrusted with the task to prepare the master plan. The authority will approve it after proper supervision,” said the SDA chief.
