Silver jubilee
Mother’s Public School recently celebrated its silver jubilee amid much fanfare in the presence of chief guest Asit Tripathy, principal secretary of the state home department. School principal Poly, accompanied by the chief guest, unveiled the silver jubilee logo, commemorative postage stamp, special postal cover, silver jubilee badge and merchandise to commemorate the 25-year journey. The event took everyone on a journey of reminiscence, especially the principal, staff members and those associated with the school for years. Differently-abled activist Sruti Mohapatra delivered a talk on the occasion.
Vijay Divas
Students of DAV Public School, Pokhariput, celebrated Kargil Vijay Divas and paid tributes to martyrs of the 1999 war on July 26. Teachers spoke about the sacrifices made by the soldiers during the war against Pakistan and remembered their contributions. “Their heroic sacrifices inspire all of us and we must never forget the fearlessness with which our courageous soldiers fought the intruders,” said a teacher. The students were told to learn from the brave hearts and their sacrifices.
App launched
A new app, Digichamps, was launched to facilitate the learning process at ODM Public School, Bhubaneswar. This is a first of its kind app launched in Odisha that will help CBSE students excel in academics and also redraw a new map of Odia entrepreneurs in the field of education. Principal S. Minaketan spoke about the importance of the app in the context of modern educational requirements and hoped that it would serve the educational purposes of CBSE students in the days to come.
Exhibition
Colourful projects on a range of subjects, including science, mathematics, art and culture, history and social sciences, were displayed at Synergy-2017, the annual exhibition of Loyola School, Bhubaneswar. Principal Victor F Misquith said the exhibition aimed to showcase the myriad concerns and engagements of students and the depth of their creative endeavours.
Science test
A test, Science Movement Aptitude Test (SMAT-2017), to select talented students from classes VI to IX to avail of the opportunity of free participation in a weeklong workshop, Science Movement, will be held on October at some key locations in Odisha. Science Movement is a unique opportunity for school students to learn science through interactive lectures, demonstrations, activities, and experiments, aimed at promoting active participation of school students in basic sciences by providing them the right kind of guidance and learning opportunity through camps. Quiz event
Shree Sai Niketan Trust, a charitable organisation, will organise Kwiz-bel 2017, an open competition for school students in association with Odisha Quiz Association on July 30 at DAV Public School, Chandrasekharpur. The competition aims to create awareness about children with special needs in schools and the society. Students from the state capital are expected to take part in the event.
