Vehicles make their way through a dense morning fog near Raj Bhavan in Bhubaneswar on Monday. The fog reduced early morning visibility to 50m, affecting commuters in the capital city for the third consecutive day. The foggy weather led to trains being delayed.
According to the weatherman, the foggy weather will persist for another two days. "The fog will continue to occur during early morning for the next couple of days. It will also be accompanied with light shower in the coming days," said Met director Sarat Chandra Sahu. The fog remained stagnant and the city returned to normality only around 11am.
"I came to board the Bhubaneswar-Balangir Intercity Express this morning to reach my office in Dhenkanal. I had to wait for nearly one hour as the train got delayed because of the fog," said Kharavela Nagar resident Bulu Mishra. He said he got late for work as a result. The foggy condition forced the East Coast Railway to cancel Monday's Bhubaneswar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express and Tuesday's Puri-New Delhi Neelachal Express.
Commuters had a harrowing experience with the dense fog cover. "I took my son to his coaching class around 7am. But, it was almost impossible to ride my motorcycle. It took me 45 minutes to reach Baramunda from Rasulgarh," said Aditya Das.
The overcast conditions also hiked the city's minimum temperature, providing relief for people from the winter.
The Met department said the fog would reduce visibility in the city and its outskirts for the next few days.
"Road users need to be careful as the visibility could pose a threat," said Sahu.
