Berhampur, April 28: Police are yet to trace a builder’s son, who has been held hostage for a ransom of Rs 20 lakh.

“We have been unable to trace the mobile phone calls from the kidnappers as they have stopped calling,” said Balugain sub-divisional police officer P.K. Routray.

Yesterday, the captors had called K. Mohan Rao, owner of KMR Constructions Company and father of the abducted K. Ganesh Rao, 20, thrice. But today, no phone calls have come, said police officers.

“The last call received was at 4pm yesterday when the kidnappers asked Mohan Rao to give Rs 10 lakh (half of ransom amount) by 7pm. But the kidnappers did not mention where to deliver the money,” said Routray.

Deputy inspector general of southern range R.K. Sharma said the Berhampur and Balugaon police were jointly conducting the search operation.
