Bhubaneswar, April 1: Prominent artists of the state came together to take part in an art workshop last week to mark 10 years of the completion of East Coast Railway. These artworks are now on display at Rail Sadan here.

The workshop titled Railways in the Eyes of Artists was held in Puri. Through their artworks, the artists tried to portray the part railways play in human life.

“The paintings are now on permanent display at the East Coast Railway Heritage Centre at Rail Sadan in Bhubaneswar,” said senior railway official Binayak Prasad Swain.

Veteran artists such as Baladev Maharatha, Siba Panigrahi, D.N. Rao, Rabi Narayan Rath, Chandramani Biswal, Gouranga Bariki, Manas Jena, Chakradhar Behera, Chandrasekhar, Gouri Prasad Rout and K. Ravi from Visakhapatnam and Shyam Sundar Achary from the East Coast Railway took part in the in the workshop.

Two other exhibitions were also held last week. A solo exhibition by Chandasekhar Sethi concluded on Sunday at the Odisha Modern Art Gallery. Another group show Strokes of Spring, held at Lalit Kala Akademi, displayed artworks by Calcutta-based professional artists and concluded on Friday.
