Cuttack: Orissa High Court on Friday granted interim bail to Rabinarayan Das, the suspended servitor of the Puri Jagannath temple, to take care of his ailing wife.

Bhubaneswar: Health and family welfare minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak on Friday denied allegations that Daana Majhi was denied a hear-se by Bhawanipatna district headquarters hospital. He said Daana had left the hospital without asking for help.

Nurses protest

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Nursing Employees’ Association on Friday called for a state-wide cease work from October 3 to protest against the state government’s lackadaisical attitude in increasing their salary scale according to the national standards. TThey alleged that though the government implemented the residential care assistance program in 2009, the nurses engaged under the National Health Mission were yet to be regularised.

Tax evaders

Sambalpur: The Sambalpur Municipal Corporation has decided to initiate certificate cases against holding tax defaulters. The civic body had recently issued notices to 25 tax evaders. However, only six paid the holding tax after receiving the notice. The civic body now plans to initiate action against the remaining 19 defaulters.

Explosion 

Nayagarh: One person was killed and 14 were injured in an explosion at a fireworks factory at Tantisahi in Nayagarh. The reason behind the explosion is yet to be ascertained.
