Murder charge

Sambalpur: Police arrested a medical representative, Ashok Pradhan, on the charge of murdering his girlfriend. The body of Pradhan’s girlfriend was found near his home at Charbhati in Dhanupali police limits on August 22. The girl’s family alleged that Pradhan had killed her.   

Tito gang

Cuttack: Police arrested three anti-socials belonging to the Tito gang and recovered three semi-automatic pistols and 14 rounds of live ammunition from them. A joint team of Special Squad and Markatnagar police made the arrests during a raid near CDA Sector-9 around 9pm on Tuesday.

Red Cross 

Bhubaneswar: The state branch of the Indian Red Cross Society was on Wednesday honoured by President Pranab Mukherjee for collection of highest number of blood units through donation camps during 2014-15 and 2015-16 in the country. It has been awarded for fund raising as well.

BPUT protest

Sambalpur: A group of students under the banner All-Odisha BPUT Students’ Organisation launched a protest demanding a permanent camp office at Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.  They also demanded proper evaluation of answer-sheets and timely publication of results.
