BJD report

Bhubaneswar: The BJD team, which visited Chhattisgarh on August 9 and 10 over Mahanadi issue, is likely to submit its report to the party president and chief minster Naveen Patnaik within a couple of days. 

Three dead

Sambalpur:  Three persons died after the bike, they were riding, collided head on with a pickup van at Gopalpur Chhak under Bhatli police limits in Bargarh district on Saturday. The deceased have been identified as Biranchi Das, 65, his wife Raibari Das, 60, and a relative of the couple Rinku Bairagi, 24. They were going to Bonda from Maharajpur.

Headmaster

Bhubaneswar: Headmaster of Hanumal Upper Primary School Pradipta Kumar Das was detained by police on Saturday for slapping the cluster resource centre co-ordinator Bhagbat Sa. According to reports there was a dispute between the headmaster and the centre co-ordinator over a deputation order.

Summoned

Cuttack:  Police issued notices to four Congress councillors of the Cuttack Municipal Corporation for allegedly passing indecent remarks and insulting a BJD councillor during the council meeting on July 29. Congress councillors Giribala Behera, Anita Nayak, Arun Kumar Sethi and Sk Shamim Ullah have been summoned to appear at Purighat police station before August 20.
