Fraud charge
Bhubaneswar: Police on Wednesday arrested a 32-year-old man for duping five persons on the pretext of giving them jobs with Odisha Tourism Development Corporation. The accused, Chandra Bhanu Mahalik, had collected Rs 1.3 lakh from each aspirant by presenting himself as an assistant manager with the corporation.
Maoist leader
Bhubaneswar: Maoist leader Azad and six others, who have been on a hunger strike at Jharapada Circle Jail since Saturday, were admitted to Capital Hospital here on Wednesday. Azad’s mother D. Kamullama and his lawyer Dilli Rao visited Azad in jail on Monday and had reported his condition to be deteriorating.
Jumbo dead
Bhubaneswar: A female elephant was found dead in a forest area in Angul district. According to reports, villagers of Tentuli under the Koshala area first saw the body lying in the nearby forest.
Konark fee
Bhubaneswar: The Puri district collector on Tuesday asked authorities of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to put the collection of revised entry fee for the Sun Temple at Konark on hold. A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting between the sub-collector, ASI officials and representatives of Konark Suraksha Samiti.
Naveen order
Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday directed all government departments to strictly maintain three per cent reservation for persons with disabilities. Naveen stressed on expediting the process of recruitment for persons under the rehabilitation scheme with immediate effect.
