Girl death probe
Bhadrak: A day after the body of a missing Odia schoolgirl was recovered from a rented house in Bangalore, Bhadrak police is set to visit the city for investigation. Sabita Behera, a Class X student of Sasikadeipur High School in Bhadrak district had gone missing under mysterious circumstances on December 19. A complaint was lodged with the cops in this regard.
Suicide
Jajpur: A man committed suicide after killing his wife at Jhikiria village within Binjharpur police limits on Friday. According to sources, the accused, identified as Goura Mallick, was compelled to take the extreme step over a family feud. Mallick first killed his wife, Jharana, by slitting her throat with a chopper and later killed himself.
Body found
Keonjhar: The body of a youth was found at Manoharpur within Harichandanpur police limits in Keonjhar district on Friday. The youth is yet to be identified. According to sources, local residents first discovered the body lying on a farmland and informed police. The cops have recovered the body.
Assets
Bhubaneswar: The enforcement directorate on Friday attached the assets of the Odisha-based Artha Tatwa group, its managing director P.K. Sethy and others in a deposit collection scam. “We have attached assets worth Rs 23 crore of the Artha Tatwa group, P.K. Sethy and others in the chit fund scam in Odisha. The value of total attachment in the case now is Rs 107 crore,” an enforcement official said.
JEE dates
Bhubaneswar: The last date for submission of application forms for JEE (Mains) 2017 examination has been extended by 14 days to January 16, 2017.
