Robber arrested
Bhubaneswar: Nayapalli police on Friday arrested ATM robber Madhab Acharya. Earlier, Khandagiri police had arrested Madhab, a Kendrapara resident. A class X dropout, Madhab used to loot passengers on moving trains after drugging them. Later, he started looting ATM booths.
Hostel order
Bhubaneswar: Utkal University authorities on Friday asked all students to vacate hostels by the evening. The varsity has taken the decision in view of the sustaining tension on the campus.
Body found
Berhampur: The tied-up body of a youth was found hanging from an electric pole near the city in Ganjam district. Police have recovered the body that was yet to be identified. It is suspected to be a murder case.
Activists held
Jajpur: Police on Friday arrested about 50 activists of the Congress, BJP and the Navnirman Krushak Sangh from different areas ahead of chief minister Naveen Patnaik’s visit to Jajpur district. Protesting against Naveen’s visit to Panikoili in the district, more than 30 women Congress activists, led by Aratri Swain, were coming to the venue to show black flags to the chief minister.
New projects
Jajpur: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday inaugurated a slew of projects during his tour to Barachana, Bari and Korei. At Barachana, Naveen inaugurated two projects and laid foundation stones of three projects at Barachana. He distributed old-age pensions among the beneficiaries.
