College seats 

Cuttack: The state government has increased seats by 10 per cent over and above the sanctioned strength in government and non-government degree colleges for the 2016-17 session. Respective colleges will fill up vacant and the 10 per cent addition seats during the fourth phase of admission through fresh applications,which will be available from Sunday.

Girl rescued

Dhenkanal: The district child protection authorities rescued a girl child from the District Headquarters Hospital here on Saturday when her father was reportedly trying to sell her because of poverty. 

Gamang son

Balasore: Sishir Gamang, son of former chief minister Giridhar Gamang, on Saturday alleged that his wife was having an extra-marital affair and torturing his 12-year-old son. Sishir and his wife Monica were married in 2003, separated in 2012 and again reunited in 2014. Sishir filed a complaint with the city DCP. However, Monica, dismissed the allegations and said they mutually divorced in 2014.

Policy for elderly 

Balasore: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday unveiled a policy for senior citizens to address the concerns of the elderly persons in aspect of health, income security, safety and security and housing.
