Girl killed
Bhubaneswar: A six-year-old girl was killed after a kite string slit her throat. The girl was travelling on a motorcycle with her parents on NH-5 on Monday. The deceased, Swetalina Behera, was sitting in front of the motorcycle.

Man dead, nine hurt in mishap
Bhubaneswar: A man was killed and nine schoolchildren were injured when a school van hit a motorcycle on Monday morning at Dhuanla village in the Balugaon police limits, around 90km from here. Four of the injured were later admitted to Bhubaneswar’s Capital Hospital. Witnesses said a speeding Tata AC van carrying around 15 children studying in Class IX and X was on the way to a private school near Balugaon when it had a head-on collision with a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction. While the motorcyclist, identified as Yudhisthir Routray, 61, died on the spot, the children were rushed to the nearest hospital from where four were later referred to Capital Hospital.
OCC gesture
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chamber of Commerce expressed condolence over the death of Bhabani Prasad Mohanty, 91, a doyen of iron ore and manganese mining. Mohanty was a trustee of Paradip Port Trust for 19 years. He had been actively associated with many business ventures.
Bravery award
Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s Abinash Mishra has been selected as one of 24 recipients for the National Bravery Award-2015 to be awarded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 24 this year. He will also be a part of the Republic Day parade on January 26 . He has been selected for rescuing a boy Bidhubhusan from Kushabhadra river.
Air Odisha
Bhubaneswar: Air Odisha is set to begin its operations from the Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar from Tuesday. The new service will connect the state capital with Sambalpur, Jharsuguda and Jeypore. Chief minister Naveen Patnaik will officially inaugurate the service.
Website hack
Bhubaneswar: Three days after the official website of Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology was hacked by unidentified criminals, police on Monday zeroed in on a second year BTech student of an engineering college from the city. The police said that Tarini Prasad Samantray hacked the website while practising ethical hacking. They said he would only be served with a notice as he did not have any intention to cause damage.
