Clash in Utkal 

Bhubaneswar: Tension brewed on the Utkal University campus on Friday following a clash 
between two student groups in connection with admission of a commerce student. Sources said the student concerned, Prithviraj Dalbehera, had allegedly been denied admission by the authorities despite having topped two 
entrance exams conducted by the university for its department of library science and commerce.

HC order

Cuttack: Orissa High Court on Friday ordered a police inquiry into alleged impersonation by Sundargarh MLA Yogesh Kumar Singh as a member of the scheduled tribe community. The single judge bench of Justice Sanju Panda directed the Sundargarh police superintendent to conduct a probe and complete the process within six weeks.   

Plea rejected

Cuttack: Orissa High Court on Friday dismissed minister of state for employment, technical education and training Sanjay Das Burma’s plea to reject the petition challenging his election to the Assembly from Brahmagiri in April last year. Congress leader Lalatendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra, who lost to Das Burma of the BJD by a narrow margin 1341 votes, had filed the election petition. 

Land bank

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation would create a land bank in the state for industrial development. Idco has already identified more than 2 lakh acres suitable for industrial use and accorded priority to 10 districts for acquiring land.
