Bhubaneswar: Personnel of elite anti-Naxalite force, the Special Operation Group (SOG) on Wednesday busted two Maoist camps in Malkangiri and seized arms. The seized materials included pipe gun, explosives, gun and bomb-making materials. However, the police failed to nab any Maoists during their operation.  

Biz boost

Bhubaneswar: As many as 7,009 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) have started production in the state with an investment of Rs 669.44 crore during 2013-14. A government official said that with the operation of the MSME units, the total units set up in the state is now 1,30,301, which have invested Rs 5,639 crore creating employment opportunities for more than 7.38 lakh persons in the state.

Exam training

Cuttack: The Board of Secondary Education, Odisha, will organise an orientation programme on February 20 for the central squad members to be engaged in the smooth conduct of the 2015 matriculation examination.

Missive

Jajpur: BJD MLA from Sukinda Pritiranjan Ghadei has written a letter to chief minister Naveen Patnaik questioning Tata Steel’s concern for the affected people. He said the private steel major had debarred Sukinda block from its model school scheme. Tata Steel is setting up nine model schools in nine of 10 blocks of the district, excluding Sukinda.

Rape arrest

Berhampur: A 22-year-old daily labourer was arrested for allegedly raping a tribal woman from Dumuripada in Kandhamal district, police said on Wednesday.
