Odisha Utsav Bear attack Hockey league  campaign Varsity land Theatre fest

Bhubaneswar: Tata Steel will organise Odisha Utsav in Bhubaneswar between January 5 and January 10, 2016. The festival is a series of consecutive events consisting of art-in-industry camp, literary meet and half marathon promote the uniqueness of the Odia culture, art, literature and sports.   

Bear attack

Balasore: Three persons were injured on Wednesday following a bear attack at Bhagatpur village under Remuna block. One of them, Rabi Singh, is undergoing treatment in the district headquarter hospital.

Hockey league  campaign

Bhubaneswar: The promotional campaign for the state hockey team Kalinga Lancers was inaugurated at Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Idco) Towers on Wednesday, ahead of the Coal India Hockey India League scheduled to begin on January 18, next year.

Canters designed to resemble Hockey Goal posts with the team's branding were unveiled by Idco managing director Sanjay Kumar Singh. These vehicles shall be part of a road show that shall roam around the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar to mobilise maximum audience engagement prior to the start of the league. 

The team, which is making its third appearance in the league, will play with a new coach and a new captain and has retained six players from earlier editions.

Varsity land

Bhubaneswar: The Central University of Odisha, Koraput, today got free government land measuring 430 acres at Sunabeda, seven years after its establishment. 

Vice-chancellor Sachidananda Mohanty and the university community expressed gratitude to the state government for the exemption of payment towards cess and related taxes.

Theatre fest

Bhubaneswar: The 12th Panchamaveda theatre festival will be held from January 4 to 8, 2016. Around five plays will be staged at the fest based on various social and cultural issues.

The plays are Swetapadma, Pakhi, Padmatola, Meria and Durghatana Pare.
