Farmer suicide

Sambalpur: A 36-year-old farmer of Babaji Math near Paharsirgaida of Bargarh district, who had allegedly consumed pesticide due to crop loss and loan burden on Sunday, died at Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research in Burla on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Paresh Khadia.

Polavaram

Bhubaneswar: The House committee has sought an appointment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take up the controversial Polavaram project on a date between December 27 and January 18. The committee would apprise Modi on the ongoing case at the Supreme Court and seek his intervention.

HC lawyers

Cuttack: Lawyers went back to Orissa High Court to resume their services on Monday after boycotting court work for since December 15. They have given a 30-day ultimatum to the government to reconsider its decision to abolish the administrative tribunal. 

Man kills wife

Balasore: Police arrested a 47-year-old man on the charge of killing his 42-year-old wife. The accused, Rupai Soren of Sueridiha village had beaten his wife Rukmini to death after altercation over a family dispute.
