Bhubaneswar: The state government has decided to construct 201 bridges over different water bodies of the state under the Biju Setu Yojana. It has also decided to lay 600 kilometres of road in the coming years. This was decided during a review meeting of the rural development department by chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday.

Kendu bonus

Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday directed officials to complete the process of extending bonus meant for the kendu leaf collectors by the end of June. 

Coin on Lord

Bhubaneswar: Union minister of state for petroleum and natural gas Dharmendra Pradhan wrote to chief minister Naveen Patnaik and urged him to ensure expeditious despatch of designs or pictures of Lord Jagannath to facilitate release of a commemorative coin on the deity’s Nabakalebar. 

Arms arrest

Bhubaneswar: Police on Wednesday arrested two persons and seized a revolver and two live bullets. The accused have been identified as Govinda Chandra Sahu and Dillip Mohapatra. The police said the duo was held near Dhauli during night patrolling.

Harass case

Rourkela: A fact-finding team on Thursday began its probe into the sexual harassment charges against the chief security officer of National Institute of Technology, Rourkela . It will submit a preliminary report within two days and a complete report within one week.

NAAC grade

Bhubaneswar: The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) granted the coveted ‘A’ Grade accreditation to KIIT University. KIIT University was given the grade on the basis of a report submitted by the 15-member NAAC Peer Team.
