Bhubaneswar, Sept. 18: The Biju Patnaik University of Technology’s camp office in Bhubaneswar resumed functioning from its Gandamunda campus today. The office will function on all working days in the third week of every month.
Biju Patnaik University of Technology’s (BPUT) registrar and examination director will be present with their support staff to address the grievances of the students.
Following a decision to shift the camp office to Rourkela, engineering students affiliated with BPUT had gone on an agitation. Technical education minister Pratap Keshari Deb had asked the authorities to make arrangements for students, following which the vice-chancellor brought out an official order stating that officials would be available in its Bhubaneswar office to hear the grievances of students, an official said.
However, the office will be no longer called a camp office as the BPUT Act says that the camp office should be in Rourkela. The camp office here (that will now been known as a liaison office) was the temporary headquarter since the main building wasn’t ready. However, students’ organisations are not satisfied the set up and no students turned up at the liaison office.
“The exam director and registrar visiting will not help, as they are not part of the practical process. We demand that the vice-chancellor visit as well. The officials should be present for at least two weeks in a month,” said Biswajit Mohanty, president, Biju Patnaik Students’ Union.
