Cuttack, May 23: Police today started investigation into the bombing at the house of Birendra Pratap Swain, the president of Central Cooperative Bank in Cuttack, late last night.

Birendra is the elder brother of firebrand BJD leader and Athgarh MLA Ranendra Pratap Swain. The police said the some goons lobbed a bomb at Birendra's house situated in Lalbag police station limits around 1am. It exploded in the garage and no one was injured.

Birendra was awake and on the phone when the incident took place.

"I have no enmity with anybody," Birendra has said in his complaint and held no one responsible for the incident.

The police said a case had been registered and investigation was on. Since the house was under CCTV camera surveillance, the cops hope to get more clues about the culprits shortly. "We are examining the relevant CCTV footage and hope to identify the culprit from it," assistant commissioner of police (zone-III) Pramod Rath said today.

Preliminary investigations had revealed that a motorcycle rider in jeans and black T-shirt threw the bomb. Though the culprit had his face covered with a white and yellow towel, it had fallen off when he lobbed the bomb.

Probe has revealed that it was a one-man operation. The culprit had first come from the Chandini Chowk side but turned and left when he saw people sitting near the house.
