Bhubaneswar: Panic gripped Bhubaneswar railway station two bodies were found there - one of an old man lying on the tracks and another of a youth hanging from the newly inaugurated foot overbridge on platform No. 3.

Sources said some railway employees spotted the old man's body. "We rushed to the spot and rescued the body. We sent it to hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead," said a GRP official.

The police identified the deceased as Rabindranath Rath, a retired doctor, who worked with the Municipal Hospital at Old Town. Family members of the deceased alleged that Rath had been murdered. "We are investigating the matter," said GRP inspector-in-charge Bharat Sahu.

"From the CCTV footage, it is known that Rath had entered the railway station from platform No. 6, bought a bottle of water and gone towards platform No. 1. He walked to the extreme end of the platform, after which we lost him as there were no cameras at that end," he said.

Rath's family members said he got a call on Friday night, after which he left the house.

In another development, the panic doubled after passengers found the youth's body hanging on a bar of a foot overbridge around 11:30am. The youth was found hanged with a towel with no belongings of his found in the surrounding area.

"We have recovered the body of the youth probably in his 30s and send it for autopsy to Capital Hospital. Prima facie, we believe that it is a case of suicide. We are analyzing closed-circuit television camera footages," said a cop.
