Kendrapara, Feb. 23: People today disrupted vehicular traffic on the Cuttack-Chandballi state highway, registering their protest against the death of a schoolboy under mysterious circumstances.

Mystery shrouded the death of 13-year-old Biswajit Parida, a Class VIII student of a public school at Danpur. Biswajit was received dead by district headquarters hospital here yesterday.

The agitated people squatted on the road near Baro Chhak. As a result, the vehicular traffic on the highway was paralysed about an hour this noon, police said.

An administrative inquiry has been ordered into the death of the schoolboy.

“The local residents felt the student died because of negligence of the school. They alleged that the school authorities had delayed in admitting Biswajit, who was down with high fever,” said Kendrapara additional district magistrate Ashok Kumar Panda.
