Battle of ideas
A debate competition to test the oratorical skills of students was conducted at the DAV School of Business Management on the topic “Entrepreneurship is better than employment”, in which the BBA and BCom (Hons) students took part. Rajen Padhi and Krishna Priya attended as experts and judged the calibre of the budding managers. Padhi enlightened the students on some core concepts of entrepreneurship
Holi at school
Students of DAV School, Chandrasekharpur, Bhubaneswar, celebrated Holi at the school premises. The students got together to put herbal colours on each other a day before the festival. The essence of the colours was enhanced as the students donned white outfits. A number of cultural programmes, including dance and musical performances, were also organised. The teachers and other staff members of the schools also joined in the celebrations.
Child rights
A state-level seminar on civil society, social movement, social change and development discourse in Odisha was organised by the Centre for Child and Women Development at the Kalinga Institute of Information Technology Auditorium, Bhubaneswar. Nobel Prize winner Kailash Satyarthi was chief guest at the seminar where he demanded National Children's Tribunal for their better safeguarding. He said that the present child rights protection mechanism was not adequate to protect the rights.
Teen counselling
A counselling session for parents of government schools in Sambalpur was held recently. Looking at the change in behaviour of the students as they grow, the teachers of a particular school conducted a counselling class for the boys and girls separately and also jointly to make them aware of teenage issues.
