Bhubaneswar, March 2: Here is a golden chance for all those who appreciate the works of artist Syed Haider Raza and always wanted to own one of his creations.
An exclusive work from his series "Bindu" will be on display from March 4 to 6 the Artist Mindz gallery here. According to gallery owner Arun Bera, it would also be available for sale during this period.
About 20 per cent or more of the proceeds from the sale of this rare artwork will be donated for charity, he said.
Artist Mindz gallery is the only in the state that has a collection of some of India's best artists. including MF Hussain, Jatin Das and several others. One of the most cherished paintings from the series, the work will be displayed in acrylic on canvas, measuring 120cm x 120cm and was done in 1998.
The 'Bindu' series is known for reflecting the mind's focus as deciphered by the iconic artist of international repute.
"The Indian iconic figure as an artist in the International art-scenario spent over four decades exploring the "Bindu" - or the dot - central to Indian spiritual iconography. Raza, one of the country's last few surviving masters of contemporary art, is yet to tire of the "Razabindu" - as the dot on his canvas is described by critics," said Bera.
"The late nineties is very important in the artist's life as the veteran master was putting colours to the monochrome Bindu," said the gallery owner.
Art lovers and young artists of the city are upbeat about the painting of Raza being displayed here. "I have read about the master painter and his works. This would be a great chance to see one of his most popular works," said Bhabani Das, an art graduate.
The work is at present owned by well-known art collector Rajashree Bhattacherjee. If the painting is not sold here, it will be taken to Mumbai.
