Biggies in town, go gadget shopping - Top companies come together at five-day IT exhibition

Bhubaneswar, Dec. 13: Geeks and gizmo lovers are in for a treat.

The biggest names in the IT sector have come under one roof to exhibit and sell electronic gadgets at the IT Expo that commenced today.

Organised by Information Technology Association of Odisha, the five-day exhibition is on at Exhibition Ground.

IT, telecom, electronic surveillance, video conferencing and GPS tracking system-providing companies have set up about 50 kiosks.

Big players in the field such as Sony, HP, HCL, ASUS and Apple have put on display a wide range of laptops, notebooks, minitops, netbooks, tablets and phablets.

Epson, a Japanese company is exhibiting various types of printers. They have kept a printer on a bicycle to show that it can be carried to remote places. The printer has charge backup and gives 6,000 prints at the minimal expenditure of Rs 700.

They have also booked a kiosk to showcase their TW8200, a projector made for those who love watching 3D movies.

“We are giving 3D glasses with the model that gives up high definition picture quality. The exhibition will help us popularise our home theatre section,” said an official of the company.

There are kiosks selling biometric attendance machines, stabilisers, anti-virus and other softwares.

“In last decade, the IT scene in the city has gone through a sea change. The year 2016 would be a watershed year by when our exports would increase by several hundred folds. We have electricity, manpower, land and water to support the industries. Two more IT parks are coming up and companies are queuing up for space,” said information technology minister Pratap Keshari Deb, who inaugurated the expo.
