International recognition
Amrit Sahu and Aamlan Saswat Mishra of DAV Public School, Unit-VIII, Bhubaneswar, attended the International Science Conference 2014 at Los Angels in California. The duo was awarded for their exceptional scientific innovations. Amrit, who is in Class X recently attended the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) from May 11 to 16 in Los Angles as team India ISEF-2014 participant and was awarded a gold medal for his unique device Voiconator — a device that can help physically-challenged persons to speak. Similarly, Aamlan, also from Class X attended the International Space Development Conference 2014 in Los Angels from May 14 to 18 and was awarded for securing the first position in NASA Space Settlement Design Contest – 2014. His amazing innovation and design on space settlement named MAMANI used high-level logic and tools to provide a habitable atmosphere to its habitants.

Public art
School and college going artists of the state gave expression to their concerns about water related issues during a public art event titled Water on Wheels organised by city-based Bakul Foundation and East Coast Railways on June 21. The artists painted live on canvas in front of the reservation and booking Countersat at the Bhubaneswar railway counter that created curiosity among the commuters. The budding artists engaged the public on the issues of water and collaborated with the public in creating the artworks.
Training for teachers
To acquaint the teachers to the emerging trends in the profession the Regional Directorate of DAV, Odisha Zone-I organised a four-day in-service training for postgraduate teachers (on DAV Public School, Pokhariput, campus from June 19 to 22. The directorate invited subject experts of higher secondary level from universities and institutes of repute to mentor and evaluate the performance of the participants. As many as 106 teachers from all DAV schools of the zone participated in the programme. Each day began with a session on managerial expertise for teachers discussing change management to stress management conducted by Identity Group, Bhubaneswer. Besides, there were discussions on value-based education, attitude of learners, technology in education and more.
Sai honour
SAI International has created a mark for itself by being among the list of winners of BBC British Council Commonwealth Class Project and winning a trip to Glasgow, Scotland, to witness the Commonwealth Games 2014. Five students of Class VIII, IX and X took part in the project. The project involved the submission of four tasks including news reporting, functioning of the student council body, traditional food and designing of flag and logo. The projects had tremendous impact on the students and teachers, as the entire school participated to deliver the tasks. It also helped the students to learn about the principles of design.

Summer camp
About 200 students from Cuttack and Bhubaneswar came together at the summer camp organised by the Delhi Public School at Kalinga Vihar. The aim was let the students have fun and also spend their vacation more meaningfully. The children took part in several fun-filled activities including yoga, tennis, football, music, dance, art and craft. Students enjoyed the radio jockeying, mini marathons, bird walk and rain dance organised as part of the event.
