Bhubaneswar, Oct. 28: A musical event titled Dil mein ho tum celebrated the works of veteran music director Bappi Lahiri at Rabindra Mandap last evening.
The gala night began with Gautam Giri singing Pyaar maanga hai tumhise, which was originally sung by Kishore Kumar. Giri then lent his mellifluous voice to Haan pehli baar from Aur Kaun and the very popular Chahiye thoda pyar from the film Lahu Ke Do Rang.
The star attraction of the evening was Raina Lahiri, the singer who shot to fame after her stint in the singing reality show, Indian Idol. She sang Kisi nazar ko tera intezaar aaj bhi hai from the film Aitbaar. She followed it up with the peppy Jhoom jhoom baba from a Mithun Chakraborty starrer.
Raina and Giri came together to croon Jalta hai jiya mera and few more duets.
Barbi Mishra and Suman Banerjee sang duets such as Pyar ka tohfa tera and Ooh la la. Both the Hindi and Bengali versions of Dil mein ho tum regaled one and all.
Another singer, Sudhansu Marik, also lent his voice to few numbers.
Other famous songs of Lahiri that were performed at the event were Manzile apni jagah and Inteha ho gayi from Sharabi and Jawani Janeman and Aaj rapat jaye from Namak Halal.
