
Bhubaneswar, June 22: The Central Board of Secondary Education has extended the deadline for revaluation of answer sheets by a week following widespread protests from students and parents.
The date for online application for revaluation has been extended till June 27 and the date for obtaining photocopies of answer scripts has been extended till June 30. The details will be made available on CBSE website tomorrow and the online process will also be operational from tomorrow throughout this period.
The development came after a four-member delegation of from the Odisha Abhibhabak Mahasangha met Union human resource development minister Prakash Javadekar in New Delhi. Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan also accompanied the delegation.
"After the intervention of Prakash Javadekar, the CBSE has agreed to extend the deadline for revaluation by one week for 9,000 affected students," tweeted Pradhan.
The CBSE has also agreed to withdraw writ applic-ation tomorrow in Odisha High Court and abide by the directions of the high court in future, tweeted Pradhan.
The parents' association has welcomed the decision of the CBSE to withdraw its appeal petition.
"We are impressed the way the minister listened to our demands and took the quick decision," said association president Sudharshan Das.
Das further said that the CBSE had also been directed to refund the application fee to students whose marks would increase after the revaluation process.
The undertaking for application of photocopy of answer papers has been withdrawn. Earlier, students had to sign an undertaking that mentions the photocopies of the evaluated answer books cannot be given to any institute or school or to any newspaper.
