Bhubaneswar, Aug. 16: The director of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar, A.K. Mohapatra, today lambasted the slow progress of construction activities on the institute’s campus here.
“People responsible for the construction should be put behind bars. Only then will they realise the importance of the project. The work has already been delayed by three years. No more delay will be tolerated,” said Mohapatra, adding that the building was to be handed over to the AIIMS authorities in August.
“It will not be possible to start the academic session from September 30. The students have already arrived. The faculty recruitment process is on. I don’t know how the classes will start here,” he said.
Odisha health secretary P.K. Mohapatra said: “I will look into the problem. The classes will begin from September 30.”
A representative of the builders said they could not complete the task because of funds crunch.
