Bhubaneswar, April 7: Deputy-chairman of Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia is scheduled to attend the fourth annual convocation of Ravenshaw University on April 16, said university officials.

Ahluwalia would also receive a honorary degree on this occasion.

The chancellor of the university, governor M.C. Bhandare would confer degrees on graduating students of the 2010 batch.

A total of 57 batch toppers from among these students would receive gold medals.

Apart from the toppers in each department and winners of the Borasambar-Senapati debate of 2010, the university gold medal for best graduate (traditional) would be awarded to Shilpa Bansal of the mathematics department while the best graduate (professional) title would go to Swati Dutta from the department of information technology management.

Honorary degrees (honoris causa) would be conferred on lawyer Indira Jaising, scholar Prabhat Nalini Das, civil servant Lalat Indu Parija, author Manoj Das, playwright Girish Karnad, radiologist Mukund Sadashiv Joshi, and retina specialist Taraprasad Das.
