Bhubaneswar, May 30: A group of parents today barged into the Central Bureau of Secondary Education (CBSE) regional office at Saheed Nagar and alleged there had been mistakes in the Class XII results announced on May 21.

The parents said that a result sheet they downloaded at 10am that day did not tally with the sheet that appeared at 11am. The group of parents did not disclose from where they downloaded this result sheet. CBSE officials said it not possible for the parent of a student to download such a document without the connivance of an insider.

The parents, however, produced two documents downloaded within one hour of each other showing two different marks. The difference was pointed out in more than six cases.

The irate parents surrounded the office of the regional director and later squatted before the office shouting slogans and demanding an inquiry into the errors.

"The result sheet for a particular student shows 35 at 10am. Soon after, the server is down for about half an hour and when we downloaded it again, it showed 95. How is that possible? This happened not in one but many cases. This indicates that the council officials are involved in some kind of a nexus, or there has been some error in marking," said Snehlata Pradhan, a parent.

"Whatever be the reason, this goof-up should be inquired into and the guilty must be punished. How can they play with the future of so many students?" said Pratap Sahu, another parent. The parents also demanded a CBI inquiry into the incident.

CBSE regional officer, Bhubaneswar, Lakhan Lal Meena, said it was impossible for any parent or student to download any document from the CBSE server.

"First, there is no proof that this is an authentic document. Second, they cannot download it without a proper username and password. It is hence proved that some insider must have helped them get the document. The council will initiate a probe to see how this document reached them," said Meena.

CHSE results

The Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) today announced that the annual Plus II arts and commerce results would be declared on May 31.
