Bhubaneswar, June 5: A play based on family ties was staged for three consecutive evenings here.
Abasara was staged as part of the Natyadhara series at Bhanj Kala Mandap. The series concluded on Monday.
Artistes of the troupe, Panchamaveda, performed the play that tells the story of protagonist Biswanath, played by director-actor Haren Sahoo.
The family dynamics change when Biswanath, an aging father, decides to retire. Biswanath has worked hard all his life so that his children may have a good upbringing, has made several compromises, and believes he deserves peace in his twilight years. But unfortunately for him, his sons as well the domestic help he helped raise are more interested in his property than his well-being.
He is haunted by nightmares about his sons awaiting his demise. He feels cornered but has no one except his wife Bina (played by actress Manisha Rath) to share his concerns with.
The set design by artiste Asim Basu failed to impress. The wall colours and curtains were clichéd.
