Bhubaneswar, May 21: Around 2,700 candidates from the state appeared for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced conducted today.
The examination was held at centres in Bhubaneswar, Berhampur and Rourkela amid tight security. While the first paper began at 9am and continued till 12noon, the second paper was from 2pm to 5pm. The candidates can check their answer sheets online from June 4.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducts the JEE Main, an all-India engineering entrance for admission to the various IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology), NITs (National Institutes of Technology), IIITs (Indian Institutes of Information Technology), deemed universities and other centrally-funded technical institutes.
Apart from the admit card, the candidates were allowed to carry black ballpoint pens, pencils and original photo ID cards.
Among the selected candidates, more than 500 were from Bhubaneswar. Among them were 151 students from DAV Public School, Chandrashekharpur, which is being touted as the highest for any individual school.
From Mother's Public School, 128 students have qualified for the advanced stage.
The optical response sheet (ORS) will be graded and scrutinised with extreme care, said officials from CBSE. The ORS of all the candidates who have appeared for both Paper 1 and Paper 2 will be displayed on the online portal, along with the machine-read responses.
"Candidates can seek a review of the machine-read responses in case of perceived discrepancy. The requests should be submitted online. The answer keys for both Paper 1 and Paper 2 will be displayed on the online portal of the examination," said chairman of Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) Tushar Kant Nath.
Earlier, around 45,000 students from the state had appeared for the written examination, also conducted by the CBSE. Some students also took the online examination.
The examination was held at 82 centres in six cities - Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Balasore, Sambalpur, Rourkela and Berhampur.
