Onlookers gather near the bus that fell into a 12-foot-deep ditch, killing two persons, including a college student, on a canal road near Patkura in Kendrapara district on Friday.

Sub-divisional police officer Kedarnath Sahu said the deceased were identified as Priyabratta Mahali, 18, a Plus-Two student, and Rajesh Nayak, 23, a daily wage earner. This apart, 20 people suffered injuries. They are admitted at government-run hospitals in Kendrapara and Patkura.
