Calling all party animals to the biggest and most rocking celebrations to usher in the New Year: The Telegraph presents the Fab Five. Pick your dance floor and rock on!!!
The Crest of fun and frolic
Event: The Telegraph 31st Nite

Attractions: Billed as non-stop excitement on three floors, the celebrations include fashion shows, DJs, salsa dance by Rhythnix, Filipino band Power of 2 and fireworks.
“DJ Yash Pal Gera from Delhi and DJ Brahmin will set the tempo on the dance floors with a heady mixture of hip-hop and funky music,” says Leesa Choudhury, coordinator of Crest and Illusion.
The fashion shows will be by designer Sheltun Benjamin Anal and Dipankar Kashyap and feature models like Tenzing Dolma (Miss Tibet) and Rajat Shrivastava (former Mr India).
Food: Mughlai menu for dinner with items like mutton rogan josh, pulao and kebabs.

A Landmark show
Event: Royal Challenge presents Mega 31st Night 2008
Place: Landmark Hotels, B. Borooah Road
Time: 8pm onwards
Attractions: DJ Nishant will provide the music on the dance floor, to be set up on the front yard of the hotel. “Besides, there will be live bands and dance troupes,” says hotel executive Prasenjit Ganguli.
“The theme for the celebrations will be ‘ghosts’, which is essentially to go with the free spirit of the night. We also have a dress code — red and black,” adds Ganguli.
Food: “An elaborate buffet” is how the hotel describes the food for the night. “Let the rest be a secret.”

Event: Signature presents Nandan Utsav-2009
Place: Hotel Nandan, Paltan Bazar

Attractions: Funky music for the hip-hoppers by DJ Shammi, performances by well-known dance troupes of the city. Svelte Emcee Paromita will anchor the evening’s programme.

Food: A “lavish buffet” with mutton delicacies will be on the menu. “And of course, we will have an elaborate spread for the vegetarians,” says Singh.

Attractions: With DJ Varun and well-known bands like Joshua and Casino Blues, the music will be high-voltage. “Our crowd is not exactly the partying teenagers and hence our celebrations are slightly on the sober side,” says T. Rahman, secretary of the club. “But there will be no shortage of fun and warmth to usher in the New Year.”
And, of course, there will be a big bonfire to light up the party.

Attractions: At one of the most happening nightspots in the city, New Year’s eve will be lit up by DJ Satya and DJ Rajiv belting out hit numbers for the party crowd. “Ours will be a hip-hop night since we cater mainly to the young crowd,” says Subrata Kaur, an executive of the floating discotheque.
