Shillong, Aug. 26: Honours were evenly shared in the Shillong Lajong-Royal Wahingdoh clash in the Shillong Premier League here today with the match ending 0-0.
The first goalless game of the season was also the first to end in a draw, which leaves Meghalaya Police clear at the top of the table after the end of round two with six points.
Wahingdoh and Lajong both have four points, with Royals in second place thanks to a better goal difference.
Defending champions Lajong had beaten Wahingdoh thrice last season, but could not find a breakthrough despite having promising youngsters Samuel Lalmuanpuia, Bipin Singh (both of whom scored twice against RWFC last year) and Milan Basumatary in the starting lineup.
Wahingdoh, for their part, had a few good chances, especially those arising from three corners in the space of 10 minutes in the second half, but none of these were converted.
Tomorrow, Malki will take on Nongkrem, with the latter hoping to change their storyline after suffering two consecutive defeats.
