Guwahati, Dec. 16: Top Indian car designer Dilip Chhabria will showcase at least 18 of his vehicles during the three-day first Northeast Auto Show, starting here on December 23.
Chhabria, who founded DC designs in 1993, has done car customising for Bollywood celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan.
"Chhabria has confirmed his participation and said he will showcase 18 different customised cars, six cars each on the three days of the expo," Sameer Bhattacharya, director of the expo, said here today.
He added: "The demand for modified cars had always been high in this region, especially in the hill areas. With DC showcasing its products, we are hopeful that people from those areas will also come for this expo."?
The expo, which will be held at Veterinary Ground in Khanapara, will see participation from 40 auto companies.
"Around 40-50 companies have# confirmed their participation. There are two-wheelers, three-wheelers and four-wheelers. Besides, there will also be commercial vehicles," Bhattacharya said.
Besides, the expo will also showcase superbikes with a price tag of over Rs 30 lakh, Bhattacharya said.
He said the expo, which he wanted to be a gala event, hit an impediment because of the Centre's demonetisation move on November 8.
"I don't think it will be as grand as we have planned as the auto industry took a hit because of demonetisation, but it will be the first proper auto show in this region and we have done everything within the limited resources to make it a success," Bhattacharya said.
Besides showcasing the cars, the expo will also organise a seller-buyer meet, expert views on various types of vehicles, bike stunts and rock shows. It will culminate with a vintage car rally that will start from Khanapara on Christmas.
