Why Sagar Ratna?

The USP of the eatery is its repertoire of vegetarian dishes. The newly-opened eatery is a unit of the Sagar Ratna chain of restaurants. Apart from the country’s metros, connoisseurs can enjoy Sagar Ratna food in Singapore and Dubai also.

Authentic Indian, South Indian and Chinese cuisine.

Service

Sagar Ratna remains open throughout the week from 8 am to 11 pm, keeping in view college and working hours. Uniformed men welcome one and all with a smile and guide foodies inside the restaurant’s comfortable ambience. The eatery seats 85 persons at a time. Service is prompt.

On The Menu

The menu has South Indian dishes including snacks like upma, idli, dahi vada, rasam vada, aloo bonda, onion vada, dosas like onion rava masala, coconut rava, ghee roast masala, butter plain and uthapams like tomato, vegetable, onion and plain. The vegetarian thali is ideal for lunch and dinner. The eatery also boasts of North Indian delicacies, including snacks and tandoori dishes.

Variation

Chinese cuisine, including vegetable talumein soup, cheese chowmein, Sagar special chowmein, vegetable chopsuey and sweet and sour vegetables, makes the best from the land of dragons come alive.

The eatery offers fresh fruit juice, milk shakes, cold and hot beverages, sweets like rava kesari, gulab jamun, basundi and badam halwa and a range of mouth-watering ice creams.

Aap Ki Pasand, a range of Sagar Ratna specialities, is a must for all die-hard veggies. It includes Sagar Ratna speciality shahi paneer, lali paneer, malai kofta, angoori kofta, saag paneer, matar paneer, paneer butter masala, paneer Shimla, paneer korma, navratan korma, matar mushroom, mushroom masala, dal fry, dal makhni, jeera aloo, dum aloo, mix vegetables, gobhi masala, aloo gobhi, bhindi masala and chana masala.

First Impression

The ambience of the eatery is friendly and homely. It is tastefully decorated, spacious and apt enough for an entire family to go and enjoy the delicious cuisine. The basement doubles up as a parking space.

Minus point

The unrestricted crowd and traffic snarls, a regular phenomenon at Paltan Bazar, are a big deterrent in attracting visitors to the eatery.

What’s new

The manager of the eatery says, “We are only a few days old. Thus, all we serve is varied and delicious cuisine for discerning foodies. We have several plans to provide exotic dishes for our patrons.”

“The city veggies are a harassed lot, since there are hardly any eateries that serve authentic vegetarian dishes having great taste. Thankfully, after Sagar Ratna, veggies have a good place to go and enjoy good food,” said Parimita Choudhury, enjoying onion masala dosa, one of the most popular dishes of the eatery.
