Agartala: The new BJP-led Tripura government is contemplating to start campus interviews in all technical education institutes in the state to raise a team of master-trainers for employment generation through information technology (IT), minister for IT Sudip Roy Barman said here on Tuesday.
Speaking to reporters at the state secretariat, Barman said a comprehensive plan was drawn during a meeting with officials of the IT department. Campus interviews will be held at National Institute of Technology (NIT), Agartala, Tripura Institute of Technology (TIT), Techno India Institute, ICFAI University and other such institutes.
The government will sponsor students screened through such initiatives for training and capacity building at Bangalore, Chennai, Pune and other industrial hubs in the country. Special bonds will be signed with them prior to the agreement, which will mandate their return and service in the state for a minimum of five years.
"We will start a social me-dia campaign to invite students from Tripura, who want to settle elsewhere, to return and join in industrialisation and employment generation through IT," the minister said. He said his department would extend incentives, free space and other benefits to such interested candidates.
Tripura had launched an IT park with an expenditure of Rs 50 crore in April last year. The park is yet to draw any major investors here, Barman said.
He said steps would be taken to showcase Tripura's potential as an IT hub at conclaves across India.
Tripura has got a high speed Internet gateway with Bangladesh and uninterrupted power supply since it went power-surplus last year.
