Nagaon/Guwahati, Nov. 20: A four wicket haul by offspinner Sourav Dubey helped Tripura bundle out hosts Assam for a modest first innings total of 174 runs in a East Zone leg match of the CK Nayudu Trophy (under-22) meet at Nurul Amin Stadium in Nagaon today.

Electing to bat first, Assam lost its first wicket in the form of Kuldeep Pegu (2) for six runs. However, fellow opener Chandan Rawat shared a 63-run second wicket partnership with Abhijit Singha Roy (33, 3x4) to steady the innings.

Rawat shared another stand of 48 runs with skipper Gokul Sharma (33) for the third wicket to further consolidate the innings. Rawat scored 44 (2x4) from 140 balls.

The dismissal of Rawat was followed by four quick dismissals before wicketkeeper-batsman Noor Alam Sheikh stepped in to share a 27-run eighth wicket partnership with Prakash Bhagat. Sheikh remained unbeaten on 24 off 69 deliveries. Assam was all out in 83.5 overs.

Dubey took the four wickets for only 25 runs. Left-arm spinner Dilip Singh, who chipped in with two for 25, ably supported him.

At the draw of stumps on the first day, Tripura were seven for no loss in four overs. Openers Bappa Das and Sourav Dubey remained not out at two and five runs respectively.
