Transport strike on Monday

The All Assam Motor Transport Association, the state unit of the All India Motor Transport Congress, today announced a 24-hour token commercial transport strike from 6am on April 10 against the 50 per cent hike in third-party insurance premium imposed by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority.

Guwahati, April 7: The All Assam Motor Transport Association, the state unit of the All India Motor Transport Congress, today announced a 24-hour token commercial transport strike from 6am on April 10 against the 50 per cent hike in third-party insurance premium imposed by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority.

The strike is part of the nationwide indefinite transport strike from midnight tomorrow called by the national body for resolution of a charter of demands placed before Union minister of road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari on March 20.

The demands include rollback of the 50 per cent hike in third-party premium on vehicle insurance and licence renewal fees imposed by the regional transport offices in different states.
