Titan Eye Plus, the country’s leading eyewear and retail chain, plans to strengthen its presence in the Northeast by opening at least four outlets in two years.
“The Northeast is a potential market for us and, therefore, we plan to strengthen our presence here. We will open a showroom in Shillong next month, while there will be three additional outlets in Guwahati by 2014,” Bikramjit Mohalanobish, regional business manager, Titan Eye Plus, told The Telegraph.
Titan Eye Plus had started its Northeast operations in Guwahati in June last year. “We had opened our first outlet at Ulubari in June last year. Subsequently, two more came up in Dimapur and Agartala in the same month. The response from the people here, who, of course, are very knowledgeable and fashionable, has been overwhelming,” Mohalanobish said while announcing a 20 per cent discount offer on the brand’s lens and frame collections from May 17 to June 30 across all stores in the country.
The discount offer, valid on in-house brands such as Eye+, Dash, Titan Advantage and select international frame brands like Prada, Gucci and Police, is a strategy aimed at giving more options to the consumer at value-for-money prices.
“Through this offer we aim to give our customers the opportunity to choose from a wide range of frames and lenses at attractive prices. As it is, we have slashed the prices of our frames and lenses. Last year, the starting price of a frame was Rs 750, which has been cut to Rs 495,” he said, adding, “House brands like Eye+ and Titan start from Rs 495 and Rs 1,000 respectively. The fashion brands are priced between Rs 3,500 and Rs 25,000.”
Titan Eye Plus, the third major line of consumer business from Titan Industries Ltd, had ventured into the eyewear segment across India in 2007. Currently, it offers a wide range of stylish and contemporary eyewear products through 205 stores across 68 cities.
Value addition, too, is part of Titan’s agenda. “We offer a great in-store experience with the open browse and try format which helps the customer pick and choose from a wide variety of frames. At the Ulubari store, customers can also avail of a free zero-error eye test through a state-of-the-art in-store testing facility and optometrists. We have an in-store style section with three style consultants to help customers opt for the spectacles or sunglasses which suit them best,” he said.
The retail chain also plans to promote its products through a sustained campaign. “We plan to erect more hoardings and launch promotion campaigns to make customers aware of our products. Our products have been subjected to sweat test, spring test, et al, and the company has done necessary research to provide the user with the best eyewear in the market,” Mohalanobish added.
