Tripura issues meningitis alert

Agartala: The Tripura government has sounded a high alert across the state following detection of a case of meningo coccal meningitis, which has left 65 tribals dead in Dhalai district. On Saturday, Ratish Dutta, a resident of Nandan Nagar, was admitted to G.B. Hospital with high fever, severe pain and black spots. Suspecting the worst, the doctors had his blood sample tested and germs of the dreaded disease were detected.

Accident

Nagaon: Five persons were seriously injured when their vehicle collided with a truck at Manja on Sunday.

Body found

Silchar: The body of Shahinder Singh, a brickfield owner, was recovered at a cropland at Dharmikhal village in Cachar on Saturday.

Drug addicts

Nagaon: Four drug addicts were caught from Diphu town by cadres of the United Peoples Democratic Solidarity on Sunday.

Appointments

Dhubri: Appointment letters were given to the newly recruited employees of the 168 gram panchayats of Dhubri at Dhubri district library auditorium on Sunday.

Two killed

Silchar: Atabur Rahaman and Shubajit Ghatowar were killed by speeding cars in two separate incidents in Panchgram on Saturday.

Notification

Dhubri: Dispur by a notification included the Bogribari police station of Dhubri into the BTAD with effect from Sunday.
