Hailakandi, March 10: Sudipta Sinha of Silchar Women's College annexed the women's singles badminton title in the Assam University Inter-College Badminton Table Tennis Championship on the Netaji Subhas Manch campus in Silchar yesterday, defeating Dipsikha Dutta of Assam University 21-9, 21-11.

In the women's doubles, Sudipta and Parvin Sultana Barbhuiya of Silchar Women's College beat Assam University's Moumita Bhattacharjee and Sonali Sinha 21-15, 21-4.

In the men's singles, Amit Saha of Karimganj College beat Ajmal Hussain of Assam University 21-15, 25-23 for the honours.

In the doubles event, Amit and Arnab Nath defeated the Assam University duo of Kaushik Dutta and Suham Sinha 21-18, 18-21, 21-12.

In table tennis, Nitai Paul of GC College defeated Jillur Rahman of Karimganj College 3-0 for the singles title.

In the doubles, Jillur Rahman and Pritam Kar got the better of Nitai Paul and Subhrangshu Paul 4-2.

In the women's singles, Rumi Dey of Hailakandi Women's College defeated Sarmistha Dey of the same college 3-0 for the title.

The prizes were given away by vice-chancellor in-charge of Assam University Ranjurani Dhamala and director of the university's sports board Chiraranjan Bhattacharjee, among others.
