Guwahati, Nov. 19: Fifth seed Parikshit Somani's fine run of form continued as he toppled another seed today, this time third seed Udayan Bhakar 6-1, 6-7(5), 7-6(5) in the ITF world ranking junior tennis championship at the All Assam Tennis Association complex here today.
Parikshit, playing a splendid brand of tennis, also paired with second seed Ishaque Eqbal to defeat Adil Kalyanpur and Rishi Reddy 6-3, 6-2 to seal a berth in the doubles event as well.
In the final, the duo will face top seed Dhruv Sunish and Shrey Gupta, who toiled hard to beat fourth seed Sanil Jagtiani and Anurag Nenwani 6-7 (7), 6-3, 10-8.
Parikshit scripted history by becoming the first player from Assam to make it to the summit clash in the ITF Juniors hosted by the association here.
In the singles final, Parikshit will lock horns with Sanil Jagtiani, who caused a major upset by defeating top seed Dhruv 6-3, 2-6, 6-4.
In the girls' singles semi-final, top seed Sabhyata Nihalani (India) defeated fourth seed Anna Solovyeva (Russia) 6-1, 6-4 while fifth seed Vaidehi Chaudhari got the better of Humera Begum Shaik 7-6 (5), 6-3.
In the girl's doubles semi-final, Shivani Amineni and Sravya Shivani Chilakalapudi created an upset, defeating fourth seed Yubarani Banerjee and Priyana Kalita 2-6, 6-4, 10-8.
In the other doubles semi-final, second seed Harsha Sai Challa and Vaidehi defeated third seed Anna and Shrivalli Rashmikaa Bhamidipaty 6-1, 6-2.
