Kickboxing

Guwahati: Assam kickboxers bagged 20 medals, including two gold, in the 15th sub-junior, junior and 16th senior national kickboxing championship at the Netaji Indoor Stadium in Calcutta from August 2 to 6. Swapna Baruah and Amar Limbu won the gold while seven others won silver and 11 bagged bronze.

Abhiruchi Day

Guwahati: The 27th Abhiruchi Sports Day, marking the birthday of Arjuna awardee Bhogeswar Barua, will be observed on September 3 in different parts of Assam. Apart from a mass jogging, and inter-school physical training contest, international sportspersons will be felicitated on the occasion.

Imphal: The Manipur Armwrestling Association will felicitate the athletes who bagged the overall team champion’s title in the 34th National Armwrestling Championship at the Khuman Lampak Sports Complex on Saturday.

Guwahati: The Assam Rock and Sports Climbing Association will host a Northeast zonal sports climbing meet at the 4 Assam Police Battalion campus here in October.

Muay Thai

Guwahati: The Muay Thai Association of Guwahati will host the all-Guwahati Muay Thai championship here on August 22. An executive body of the Muay Thai Association, Assam was constituted with Madhab Sarma as the president, Saurav Mitra as general secretary and Hridaynanda Sarma as treasurer at a meeting of district representatives on Sunday.
