Agartala, June 10: One of the city’s high-profile schools, Shishu Vihar, scored an encore in the Madhyamik examinations this year, securing six among the top 10 positions on the merit list.
The results of the Madhyamik examinations, conducted by the Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE), were announced here today by board president Subrata Sengupta.
Lahari Das of Shishu Vihar school topped the merit list, securing 718 marks in the aggregate with letters in seven subjects.
Netaji Subhash Vidya Niketan secured two positions while MTV Girls’ High School of Agartala and Arya Colony School of Belonia subdivision captured one position each on the merit list.
Announcing the results, Sengupta said the pass rate this year is 65.61 per cent, only 0.93 per cent more than what it was last year. Of 31,934 candidates who appeared at the examinations in 69 centres, a total of 1,104 students secured first division and 2,972 secured second division while 14,459 candidates have been declared “passed”.
In altogether 73 schools, all candidates passed the exams. “This year there has been a major improvement in the results of tribal students as 33.43 per cent of them have passed, compared to the 23 per cent pass rate last year,” Sengupta said.
Some 62 per cent of the students belonging to the Scheduled Caste category got through the exams.
He, however, indicated that the school education system in the Autonomous District Council (ADC) area was still languishing. “This is reflected in the results, as only a 41.35 per cent success rate was recorded,” Sengupta said.
