Guwahati, Nov. 23: Sai Samhitha Chamarthi of India won double crowns in the ITF World Junior Ranking tennis championship, which concluded at the All Assam Tennis Association complex here today.
In a closely contested girls’ under-18 singles final today, she came back from a set behind to defeat Ann-Christin Nilsson of Germany 1-6, 6-0, 7-6 (6).
In the girls’ round of four yesterday, Nilsson eased past Nehel Sahni of India 6-3, 6-2 and Chamarthi overcame compatriot Snehal Mane 6-4, 6-4.
Samhitha yesterday won the girls’ doubles title in tandem with Sahni, defeating compatriots S. Dixith and R. Reddy Pasula 6-2, 6-3.
In the boys’ under-18 singles final, Chin Chun Tang of Chinese Taipei defeated Garvit Batra of India 6-2, 4-6, 6-4.
In the semi-finals yesterday, Batra beat compatriot Fatehdeep Singh 6-1, 6-4 and Tang got the better of Anvit Bendre of India 4-6, 7-5, 7-6 (2).
V. Vaghela of India and V. Yagudin of Russia lifted the boys’ doubles title yesterday beating Indian pair of K.P. Adavelly and G. Tokas 7-5, 6-4.
